This blog’s goal is to highlight and discuss some of the real oppression men suffer under. Some of this will be by mocking men where they whine about things which are not oppression.
Why Mythandry? Aren’t you mocking the suffering of men?
Not really. Men are not (often) oppressed for being masculine or “manly”. Men suffer far more often from being considered not masculine enough. Men are not oppressed for being men but for not being men by some arbitrary definition. Gay, bisexual, transgender, having “feminine” hobbies, being fat, being skinny, or some other item among a seemingly random assortment of gendered activities and features.
I want masculinity to be defined by what men do and nor what men can’t do or be. I want a masculinity that allows for men to be who they want to be without worrying if something makes them “girly”.
Whatever men are doing, that’s masculine.
